Description

George III (reign 1760 – 1820) toleware spice box.

This is an original 18th Century brass Georgian Toleware spice box with replacement knob. A circular hinged lid encloses a six compartment interior and its original nutmeg grater / grinder in the centre.

Considering this metalware is anything up to 200 years old and will have suffered from dubious care and attention for much of its life, it is in surprisingly good shape. One could say that it’s an interesting survivor from a very different time!
